Difference Between ABS and PLA

I don’t know but the key part of 3D printing is using the right material for your print job. Just like Renderer. When taking into consideration what building material to use, there are numerous issues to consider, including strength, flexibility, accuracy, and special conditions the material may require in order to print correctly and accurately. ABS and PLA both are the most well known filaments in the world of 3d printing that have been currently used, but the differences between the two, aren’t instantly noticeable.

So, raises the question:

What are the differences between ABS and PLA?

Give me a chance to point out of this issue.

Base ABS PLA
Elaboration Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Poly Lactic Acid
Plastic Base Oil Based (e.g. petroleum) Plant Based (e.g. tapioca root, starch, soy beans, sugarcane etc.)
Smell ABS will smell hot plastic PLA will smell mildly sweet
Toxicity It may contained minimal level of Toxic. Healthier then ABS
Biodegradability ABS is not bio-degradable PLA is bio-degradable
User For engineers, and professional applications For home printers, hobbyists, and schools.
Temperature ABS needs more Temperature while printing PLA needs less temperature while printing
Printing Temperature settings 230-250 Degree C 190-220 Degree C
Temperature resistance Higher than PLA Lower than ABS
Melting Temperature settings 210-240 Degree C 160-190 Degree C
Heated print bed Mandatory Not mandatory
Cool down ABS needs more time to cool down PLA needs short time for cool down
Printing Speed ABS made printing speed slower than PLA PLA prints faster than ABS
Part Accuracy ABS is much accuracy in Mechanical parts printing PLA is much accuracy in Artistic and smooth parts printing.
Color Availability ABS in limited color range availability PLA has wide range of color availability.
Expense ABS is cheaper than PLA PLA is little bit expensive than ABS
